Try a New Food Tuesday: It's Healthy Because It Has "Fit" In the Name

I know that y'all are going to call "chicken" because I went with a familiar food this week instead of something that contains fish eggs and cheddar cheese...but I can't be blamed. It just called to me. Beckoned me. Cried "Mama!" And so I took it lovingly into my arms, gave it a stroke on the lid and placed it gently in the cart. Oh how we've been parted for so long.

This week I give you....

Yes, it looks remarkably like Nutella...and yet it is NussFit! It is not Nutella...because it is HEALTHY!! It is FIT! It has a big ole price sticker from the commissary deli plastered across the back so it is impossible to tell how many calories per teaspoon (or...er...tablespoon...or...er...bowl). But it tastes simply heavenly spread on a bagel or across a cupcake or straight off the spoon, as it turns out.

Disclaimer: I did NOT just buy this today....because eating that much chocolate hazelnut spread in one sitting is unhealthy...regardless of the brand name. This has lasted the whole week. I would like to know where I pick up my prize for unmatched self-discipline.

Also, because I'm a giver, I'm going to share a recipe using NussFit (technically using Nutella but they seem to be one in the same...with the exception that, of course, this is much healthier). All the way from The Ungourmet, I give you:

The Best Zucchini Bread You Will Ever Eat Or Your Money Back
Click on the title for Kim's DELICIOUS recipe. There is no reason not to make this recipe. It has NussFit AND zucchini. Your cardiologist and personal trainer are basically begging you to do this for yourself. And while you're over there, go ahead and poke around a bit. Kim just posted a recipe for the most amazing burritos. I haven't tried them but if I could eat my laptop screen, I would.

Next up for Thursday is pictures from the luau...or what I remember from it. Note to fellow travelers: Hale Koa (which is the military hotel in Honolulu) makes the kind of Mai Thai that goes down smooth and doesn't hit you until you look from side to side too quickly. It is $7.00 of pure bliss and the best money I've ever spent on rented liquid. And it helps the poi go down a little smoother, too.

  1. This is completely cracking me up because I am writing up a post for Nutella tonight! I've never tasted it on anything but a spoon until I got some for the review. Too too funny, and darn good!

  2. Straight out of the spoon - oh yeah! My kind of girl. I wonder if you can mix it with peanut butter?

  3. Um, well, clearly this is not Nutella because it has a different name. Duh. And how do you NOT eat it all? Nothing gives me more pleasure in life than eating icing out of the can. It's so gluttonous and you know it's wrong, but feels oh so right. It's as much fun as you can have as an old married woman. And I presume NutFIT is the same type of feeling.

  4. You make me smile from ear to ear! ;D Thanks so much for your kind words. If you were closer, I'd run on over right this minute and give you a big hug! NussFit looks just as irresistible as Nutella!

  6. Hold up - Military HOTEL?! In HAWAII?! There's just so much I had no idea about. I always thought they favoured tents and trenches. This whole military thing is looking better and better all the time.

  7. Oh yums. My love Nutella so NussFit must be divine. (I should add here that in addition to cupcakes and spoons (and bowls) Nutella also tastes fantastic on a (roll of) Ritz Cracker(s).) And... The UnGourmet!?! I love her! Did I really miss this recipe? :(

Oh and P.S. I think it's completely acceptable to consider NussFit an unfamiliar food. I mean Jiff and Peter Pan are both peanut butters but one in the same, they are not!

  10. I love Nutella. LOVE it. I bet I would love this equally as much, although not in zucchini bread because I am one of those weirdos that doesn't like zucchini.

  12. Nutella and I are bff's so I feel like I would be cheating on him if I went with a healthier option. BUT. I am looking for healthy alternatives to all things in my life.

  13. Can you believe I've never had Nutella? My brother practically lived on it for a few months in high school, but I've never even tasted it. However, I'm totally making that zucchini bread for a party next weekend. I'll let you know how it goes.

  16. I love Nutella so much. And the best thing is that nobody else in the house likes it (The kids must have been switched at birth.) so I get the whole jar to myself. *evil laugh*

  20. When I was in the Netherlands, I saw a commercial proclaiming Nutella to be healthy and good for child nutrition. I made a joke about it to my host mom and she gave me a blank look.

Then, she shared with me how Nutella is full of calcium.

This is the same woman who looked down her nose at me for putting peanut butter on ANYTHING because "it has so much fat".

I'm sorry. That actually had very little to do with your post, but I think I needed to get it off my chest.

I hope the NussFit was truly magical for you!
